We are looking for passionate educators—from recently certified specialists to experienced, retired K-8 teachers eager to return—to serve as a Certified Reading Specialist where your deep knowledge will transform young lives this '25-'26 school year!
 
Position Overview: 

• Provide direct, evidence-based reading instruction and intensive intervention programs to small groups of K-8 students, focusing on the five pillars of reading.
• Administer, interpret, and analyze various diagnostic reading assessments to identify student needs, monitor progress, and adjust instructional strategies for targeted and effective intervention.
• Coordinate and manage the school's overall Title I or Response to Intervention/Instruction (RtII) reading program, ensuring effective implementation and reporting.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to model best practices in reading instruction, assist in curriculum selection, and provide ongoing professional development in literacy.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree
• Valid Pennsylvania Reading Specialist Certification (K-12)
  • Candidates with a K-8 Elementary Education Certification and relevant reading experience will also be considered
• Demonstrated success managing intervention programs (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Fundations, Wilson) and a strong working knowledge of current reading research, diagnostic assessment tools, and the Science of Reading (SoR) principles
