Position Overview: 

• Provide 1:1 medical support for a transition-aged student, including diligent tracheostomy care (suctioning and replacement) and G-tube management, with a high focus on preventing accidental dislodgement.
• Assist with frequent physical transfers using a Hoyer lift and manage the transport of a heavy specialized power wheelchair (approx. 350 lbs) in manual mode as required.
• Manage all personal care needs, including scheduled toileting/diapering every two hours and monitoring the student during bus transportation to and from the learning center.
• Follow the student’s established Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) with fidelity, addressing self-injury and non-compliance while ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications: 

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Valid Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Strong clinical competency in trach/G-tube care and the ability to follow specific behavioral protocols for students with complex needs
