Position Overview:

  • Provide direct specialized instruction and manage a self-contained classroom for high school students in the mild to moderate range of disability categorization.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and conduct triennial reviews for students with significant histories of truancy or dropout status.
  • Employ flexible teaching and outreach strategies to consistently re-engage truant students and maximize their long-term academic participation.
  • Address the considerable barriers impacting student attendance and performance, partnering with staff and families to ensure goal implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Special Education
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) endorsement for High School (Required)
  • Experience working with high-risk students
