Position Overview
- Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services to a high school student during regular academic programming.
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers to support full participation in the educational environment.
- Accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school-related communication while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Collaborate with the educational team to support the student’s communication needs and successful access to instruction.
Qualifications
- Qualified ASL interpreter meeting Pennsylvania requirements for educational interpreters; EIPA score of 3.5 or higher or eligibility under the Pennsylvania Sign Language Interpreter and Transliterator Registration Act
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, with the ability to accurately interpret academic instruction and classroom communication
- Experience providing ASL interpretation in a K–12 or high school educational setting preferred
