Position Overview:

  • Deliver specialized instruction utilizing research-based teaching techniques that address the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of K-12 students with visual impairments.
  • Adapt the curriculum and modify instructional materials to meet the specific learning requirements outlined in students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Partner daily with support personnel, teachers, and parents to foster strong relationships and promote overall student progress.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Blind or Visually Impaired Endorsement
  • Proficiency in Braille (UEB) and knowledge of assistive technology for the visually impaired.
  • Previous experience as a TVI or in a K-12 special education setting (Preferred)
