Position Overview:

• Assist in delivering instruction to high school students with mild-to-moderate disabilities, ensuring all accommodations are met according to individual learning plans.
• Implement and document students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the SPED team; support staff in maintaining a safe, structured, and consistent learning environment.
• Adapt instructional support in real-time to meet students where they are, navigating challenges like learning deficits and socio-economic barriers with empathy and creativity.
• Collaborate with staff to re-engage high-risk students, including those with histories of truancy, by helping mitigate barriers such as homelessness and learning deficits.

Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Paraprofessional Endorsement (Required)
  • Note: Short-Term or Substitute Licenses are not eligible for consideration for this specific role
• Prior experience within a large urban public school district or charter environment; high school level experience (Strongly Preferred)
• Proven ability to remain adaptable and composed in high-pressure environments, paired with a career-long dedication to serving urban student populations
